Some ideas for the next piece

Not much joy with the Cyprus this week so I have decided to do some burning on the next piece. Here's my potential design:

My turning this past week

A unfinished vase from the conifer wood - I reckon it's close to Cyprus. About 275 mm (11") tall. I don't think I'll be leaving this plain...........

Some finishing this last week

I started doing some finishing this week. This vase was in an earlier post and I am trying to complete it. I'll probably keep it simple. It's made from Indian Mahogany.

This is the vase that was on the lathe last time. The base turned out to be a bit squat for my liking but I'll see how it finishes. It needs to be stable too!

I haven't turned Cyprus for quite a while....

I haven't turned Cypress for quite a while but have started to use some from a tree that what cut down in my parents complex.
A small vase about 150 mm (6") tall

A taller vase from a different perspective than usual, I reckon it's to be about 250 (10") mm tall

There are shavings on the floor again!

For the first time in 2012 there are some shavings on the floor again!
Wet turned from White Stinkwood - I left the top natural, what do you think?

Still on the lathe, also wet but giving me lots of problems with cracks. Superglue to the rescue. I don't like using the stuff but we'll see how it turns out.

I've finished the burning

It has taken me a while but the burning has been completed. Made from Jacaranda, about 180 mm (7") tall. The idea is to apply texture through pyrography. Do you like it?

I'm back from holiday and it's a new year!

I back from holiday. I was out of town visiting Mpumalanga and the KwaZulu Natal South Coast.
Port Edward beach, early morning.

I did some work though....
A Jacaranda vase with pyrography, about 225 mm (9") tall.

Some of the work anticipated is still in progress.
A teaser.......
