Improving my photographs....

I have been planning  for a while to build myself a light tent to help with the quality of my photographs.
A bit of electrical  tubing, a spotlight, polystyrene boards and an old curtain for a backdrop (not the ideal, I intend to upgrade this) and I was in business. See the following link for more detail about the homemade light tent.

Of course the most important thing is the results. Let me know what you think......

First ,  a trio of some older turnings

And then a relatively new turning (2010) out of Indian Mahogany, Dia 280 mm x 180 mm high.

Meeting with the Pretoria woodturners

Today was the monthly meeting for the Pretoria woodturners. I was asked to demo some texturing techniques so I included the "homework" (wall plaques) into the demo. The result being 2 plaques mainly using the Dremel, the Ryobi carver and the Dremel engraver. See the pics below:

This one is not complete but served the purpose for the demo

This included using inlaid copper wire. My wife said it reminded her of a car tyre. The grooves were done with an Arbortech wheel

The final pic is of an older piece which also had lots of carving and texturing

Some more pictures........

The start !

This is my first attempt at blogging.

While being an IT professional I have never had the need to maintain a presence on the web but since I started woodturning some 4 years ago I have become interested in seeing what other people create in wood. The following pictures show what I have done up to now.
