Some hollow form practise...

The completed hollowform from the last post - the turning I mean! Still needs to be sanded and finished. Made from Whitestinkwood.
A small pot made from the same wood. In both pieces the pith has been left in the wood but centred so that any distortion should happen evenly.
They are both wet still and distortion has certainly taken place!

Not all things go well!

To show that in reality not all of my turnings go well. Here's an attempt to make a box with a lattice lid for our "homework" Needless to say I think there was too much presuure on the thin lid hence the failure. I will maybe try some other way to cut the grooves.
I did this as a warmup in preparation for the above attempt. When I first started woodturning I did a couple of boxes and have done nothing for the last couple of years. Indian mahogany with a textured lid.
A hollowform in progress, about 100 mm dia, made from White Stinkwood. I am considering colouring this piece as the wood dries an unattractive colour

Trying something new...

I am trying something new. This piece will hopefully become a rectangular bowl with feet. I have already done some preliminary carving as well!

A hollowform made from some kind of Eucalyptus. This piece of wood was kindly given to me from a friend and I hope it turns out well. As you will be able to see it contains the pith which means it could crack. Here's hoping!
